Meet Janet Slack, Your Life Adventure Coach

Janet Slack, LPC has aptly named her business Life Adventure Coaching because she embraces life and all its adventures.  Whether kayaking with friends on a serene lake in Maine or jogging a wooded path in North Carolina, she's always thinking about how to integrate life's lessons.

Because of her love of nature, Janet originally studied and earned a degree in botany at the University of Maine.  She worked in the environmental field as a water and wastewater chemist, managed two laboratories and worked as an industrial pretreatment coordinator.  Following the unexpected death of her husband, Janet was forced into a life transition.  She decided she felt mature enough to pursue her first love of working with people.

Janet returned to school and earned a Master's degree in counseling from the University of Southern Maine.  Becoming a mental health therapist took her to a lot of interesting places.  Some of her job placements included working in hospital treatment units, helping teenagers in high school,  guiding women drug addicts and alcoholics in their recovery, working with victims of trauma, and counseling couples and families.  Each of these experiences allowed her to look at the health of the whole person including mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.

Janet currently presents workshops on a variety of topics, leads coaching groups, meets with individual clients by telephone or in person, and consults with local businesses. She is an ACC certified coach by the International Coach Federation. Janet has worked with and mentored many other beginning coaches on starting their own coaching business.
